Poor Man’s Whiskey (USA) Performing their incredible creation ‘Dark Side of the Moonshine’.
Bluesfest fans take note: Poor Man’s Whiskey could well be the hit of the festival! They are an absolutely sensational band that are bringing their high-energy live show and an incomparable fusion of folk, punk, bluegrass, rock and disco to Bluesfest 2010. Better yet, Poor Man’s Whiskey will be playing their most recent album being “Darkside of the Moonshine”. This double album contains a playful acoustic rendition of the seminal Pink Floyd album, Dark Side of the Moon, and the second disc is their most recent collection of original material. The band have been touring their “Darkside of the Moonshine” show to rave reviews all across North America. “It is a quite a spectacle”, says Jason Beard, PMW guitar and mandolin player. “Where else will you see a bluegrass rendition of Pink Floyd music under a canopy of lasers where the band plays a Theremin and is dressed up as characters from the Wizard of Oz!” Emerging from the San Francisco bay area music scene this quintet wins over audiences with their upbeat performances, zany stage antics, and infectious songs. While seamlessly integrating acoustic and electric instruments the band weaves tales of everyday life, inviting the audience to become a part of each show. Nat Keefe, from the band Hot Buttered Rum called them “great singers, instrumentalists, and songwriters, but above all they are entertainers…These are the kind of guys who, in the 1920s, would have been a traveling variety show, complete with freaks, stunts, and banjo comedy. Fortunately, they are here for us to enjoy now". Make sure you don’t miss this foot-stompin’ good time!
