While last night's show at the Mystic was another PMW miracle/milestone, I think it will be the decisive one in Jason's life (AD will henceforth stand for 'after darkside' and BC will stand for 'before the concert').
When I retired from the band in the fall of 2005, in anticipation of moving to London, I didn't think it would be 18 months before I moved. But I did have high hopes that Poor Man's Whiskey would do things we hadn't yet dreamed.
In the past 18 months the evolution of PMW has been nothing short of amazing to watch. Since my last show, where we did the jailbreak with Warren Hellman, George coming on board to record Roadside Attraction and then on to last year's Cinco De Mayo Free Bird frenzy (which I thought might be the peak) to the brilliant interpretation of Patsy Cline mashed-up with Gnarl's Barkley's Crazy at the HSB kids show, to the butchering of Bohemian Rhapsody (which I thought might be the end), I've truly enjoyed seeing so many new people getting off with PMW.
Tonight left me without a doubt that Poor Man's Whiskey will keep pushing the boundary, taking bold risks, and kicking ass way more often than not.
Thank you boys for the inspiration. I'll leave for London next month smiling like a proud dad as I plot your british isles tour for 2008.
Cheers,
Noah
